Latitude Legal Alliance is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering Oklahoma's immigrant community through low to no-cost legal services, resources and advocacy. Latitude emerged from the OKC Afghan Legal Network (ALN), a temporary initiative created to meet the urgent legal needs of Afghan evacuees who relocated to Oklahoma City in 2021. Recognizing the need for a long-term solution, the team transitioned the effort into a permanent organization focused on immigration legal services. At Ghost, I led the development of a new name and brand identity to reflect the organization's expanded mission.

Strategy

The name “Latitude” was chosen for its dual meaning: no matter where you are on earth, latitude lines are same distance apart, symbolizing the organization’s belief in equality and dignity for all people, regardless of origin. The word can also refer to freedom of action, reflecting Latitude’s mission to remove barriers and expand rights and opportunities for the individuals they serve. The brand identity incorporates geographical elements like topography lines and a grid system to tie into the organization’s new name. The mark features a stylized globe with equidistant, overlapping circles that symbolize latitude lines as well as the idea of connecting clients with resources and the local immigrant community. A rich forest green anchors the palette, complemented by lighter greens and a lavender accent color for contrast and variety. Serif and sans serif type is paired to balance trust and modernity, while a monospaced font inspired by metal type printing adds an analog feel reminiscent of old-school maps. Together, these elements create a cohesive, mission-driven brand that honors ALN’s legacy and positions Latitude as a community-centered force for justice.
